Friends,
Welcome to another addition of Women of Wisdom's (W.O.W) e-letter! W.O.W's mission is to encourage you to live the divine purpose for your life! Expect to see a W.O.W. e-letter monthly and be sure to pass them on to your friends.
As I was sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to leave, I observed a young family of four waiting for the same flight. The little boy''s name was Caleb. How did I know this? Because Caleb was running up and down the concourse yelling at the top of his four-year old lungs! Such a big noise for such a small boy. Suddenly, when his mother had had enough she said, "Caleb, stop it, you can''t be a lion right now!"
It was only then that I realized that this high pitched hollering that I had heard from Caleb wasn''t hollering at all. It was roaring! In his mind he was a lion.
The thought of this little boy roaring like a lion struck me as very amusing. He was so small and yet in the world of his imagination, he was the king of the jungle.
I begin to wonder what happens to our imagination once we grow up. When did we begin to pack up our imagination and decide it was no longer necessary? Was there a time when someone told us that imagination was only for kids? Why don''t we see any adults running through airports roaring like lions? (I know, I know - they would lock us up if we did) But surely there is something to be learned from little Caleb.
I learned a long time ago that a lack of discipline when using our strengths can easily turn it into a weakness. Clearly, the use of our imaginations is one such strength that must be cloaked in discipline. But is it possible that we ''threw out the baby with the bath water''? Did we start to tell ourselves, "That idea is just foolish, you''re too old for that...; young for that...; not smart enough for that...; not connected enough for that''....and eventually lost the ability to imagine all the possibilities?
The Bible says "if you live wide-eyed in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light." (Luke 11:34-35, The Msg) The only bad imagination is one that sets itself up against the Word of God. We are to live "in wonder and belief." When it comes to what God says about us, there are no limits! There is a reason God said, "unless you become like one of these..." (referring to the children). He knew that to a child anything is possible. They have no problem believing they can be a lion today and tomorrow a lamb. Their world is as big as their imagination and our world is as big as our God.
What have you thrown away in your imagination that you need to recapture and consider? Take some time to reflect on the possibilities. Remember, with man it may be impossible but with God all things are possible.
Be Blessed!
