I used to be a big procrastinator.  For some reason I liked living on the edge.  As a result, I would at times leave things until the last minute.  Then I would work like a dog to get something done, while at the same time saying, "next time start earlier!"  Of course, I would forget that little piece of advice to myself and start the entire pitiful cycle again on my next big project.

One day, I had had enough of that nonsense and in an overwhelmed moment, I issued an invitation to God.  It went something like this:

"Lord God, I give you my tendency to procrastinate.  You have my full permission to override procrastination at every opportunity.  Enter into my circumstances.  Enter into my willfulness.  Enter into my plans for this day.  Enter into my dreams for my life and how I think things should be done.  Enter into every area that continues to hold me back and hold me down.  Just make yourself at home today and for as long as it takes to move me in the direction I need to go.  Keep me on task, on point, and on the right path.  I''m believing you to do whatever it takes to get me in position for destiny, purpose, and to please you in everything I do."

I believe something happened that day.  A break-through of sorts.  It''s clearly a process and while I''ve had a few setbacks since then, I have found myself procrastinating less and less each day.

Is there an area of your life where you need to draw a line in the sand and issue an invitation for God to enter in?  Then let this be a true season of real change and say as the psalmist said so many years ago..."You God, prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it.  Oh that my steps might be steady, keeping to the course you set." (Psalm 119:4 -5, The Message Bible)
