There was an award winning movie years ago titled "Children of a Lesser God".  The movie was ok but it was the title that intrigued me.  What must it be like to be children of a lesser God?  The mere title implied that there were gods that were big and gods that were small and some people had the unfortunate fate of being children to one of the smaller gods.  Imagine knowing that the god you serve was not sufficient?  How would it be to serve one that was not enough?

I''m so thankful to serve the ''all sufficient one''.  His many names discloses His supremacy.  Here are just a few of them:

Jehovah El Yon - The Most High God  (Genesis 14:18)

El Emunah - The Faithful God (Deut. 7:9)

El Hay - The Living God (Joshua 3:10)

El Shaddai - The Almighty God  (Genesis 17:1,2)

Jehovah Jireth - The LORD shall provide (Genesis 22:14)

Jehovah Machsi - The LORD my refuge  (Psalm 92:9)

Jehovah Magen - The LORD the shield  (Psalm Deut. 33:29)

Jehovah Malech Olam - The LORD King forever (Psalm 10:16)

Jehovah Nissi - The LORD my banner  (Exodus 17:15)

Yeshua - Savior  (Isaiah 43:3)

In fact there are well over 80 compound names for God listed in Scripture giving us only a tiny glimpse of who He is.

So what do you call Him?  What would the title of your movie be?  Are you serving a lesser god?  Or do you serve ''El Shaddai'' - the Almighty God?  If you are not sure, listen to what He says: "You are my witnesses", says the Lord, "and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He.  Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me."  (Isaiah 43:10)     It is His desire that we know Him and be children of the only great God.
