Title: God Will Do What Even Oprah Can't   Send to a Friend
Date: 01/10/2007

Welcome to another addition of Women of Wisdom's (W.O.W) e-letter! W.O.W's mission is to encourage you to live the divine purpose for your life! Expect to see a W.O.W. e-letter monthly and be sure to pass them on to your friends.

3rd Edition, Volume 3, Demi #33

Over the past several days, the world news has been making much over the opening of Oprah Winfrey’s $40 million dollar school for girls in South Africa .  It truly is wonderful and a great example of giving.  On CNN, Oprah shared the story of how she expressed a desire to see each little girl grow up and have the opportunity to go to college.  Upon making this known, one little girl asked, “But who will pay for that?”  Oprah responded, “I will”, to which the little girl dropped her head into her hands and begin to cry.  Puzzled by this response, Oprah asked her, “Why are you crying?”  The girl replied, "I am crying at the thought of it.”

That touched me so deeply.  Here this little girl was weeping at the thought of what was already planned for her based on a promise made by a woman that she barely knows.  I understood this great emotion.  All one has to do to understand the feelings of this young girl is to sit quietly and read just one or two promises found in the Word of God to be shaken to the core with emotion.  Oh if we could only grasp and receive into our hearts the promises of God in this same way!  If we could really take what He says in Jeremiah 29:11 - “for I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for good and not catastrophe, plans for a great future and an eternal hope” - and perceive it in such a manner that it caused us to pause in awesome wonder.  If we could began to allow this promise to sink into our spirits so that the true meaning of those words and their application would become real in our lives.

What if we really accepted the promise of God that says “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9, Isaiah 64:4)?  What would our attitudes and actions be as we went through each day with the mere thought of this going over and over in our minds?  If we were to do that and meditate on the magnificence of these promises, we too would drop our heads into our hands and weep at the thought of it.

I would encourage each of us to take some time to reflect on the many promises of God for us and learn to accept the fact that they are true and they will happen.  For He has promised that He will fulfill His purpose for us and He will not abandon the work of His hands (Psalm 138:8).  Some of these promises may seem to be in the distant future.  But whether they are a promise for today or in the future, they have already been prepared.  They are already planned out and we can trust in the One who has committed to do everything He promised.  I think when we ponder on God’s promises for any period of time at all, our response will be like that of the little girl in South Africa.  And when asked by our Father, “Little one, why are you crying?”  With our faces in our hands, we with great gratitude and emotion will say, “I am crying at the mere thought of it.”

Be Blessed!
