Title: Walking by Faith, Not by Sight   Send to a Friend
Date: 11/28/2006

Friends,

Welcome to another addition of Women of Wisdom's (W.O.W) e-letter! W.O.W's mission is to encourage you to live the divine purpose for your life! Expect to see a W.O.W. e-letter monthly and be sure to pass them on to your friends.

2nd Edition, Volume 2, Demi #31

I’ve been grappling with something recently.  It is the whole issue of walking by faith and not by sight.  I thought I was doing that rather well and to some degree I have been, but just when I think I have it all figured out, some new ‘faith walk test’ comes along.  Then I feel like a beginner again and not a seasoned faith walker like I know I am.

My latest test came in the form of trusting God with my new business venture.  I’ve always been fortunate enough to have had a career that allowed me to have plenty of resources.  Whatever I needed to get the job done – I could get in a big company environment.  If I needed supplies – I ordered them.  If I needed technical support – I picked up the phone and someone took care of it.  Needed airline reservations? Done!  And of course due to the nature of my work – getting new clients was no challenge while I worked for a large corporation.  I guess you could say I had it made.  But then, at God’s leading, I decided to move out in faith and start something completely new and different with Him.

To say that it has been an adventure would be an understatement!  While certainly I’m having the time of my life, I have also had some anxious moments. Most of those revolve around this entire issue of resources and having the faith to believe that God truly will provide all my needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.

So I decided to have a talk with Him, a small business meeting – for all you corporate types that are reading this – to discuss the issue of resources and how I was feeling just a tiny bit stressed with all that needs to be done in my office.

And that’s when the entire discussion around walking by faith and not by sight came up as God reminded me through His word of how completely aware He is of all our needs.  This is what He said:

Walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.     30 -33"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.”   (Matthew 6: 27 – 34, The Message)

And with that, our business meeting was over and we had covered everything on the agenda.  God is very efficient that way.

I found this reminder very comforting as I remembered that you and I are much more important to God than flowers or any other living creature.  And of course He knows exactly what we need whether it is resources for a new business venture or peace for our souls, He is the ultimate provider.

So if you are struggling with some issue today that is requiring you to trust God’s good intentions toward you rather than trusting what you may see in your circumstances (commonly known as walking by faith and not by sight issues), then schedule some time to meet with Him.  He invites us to “come and let us discuss this” (Isaiah 1:18, HCSB).  I believe you will find the very answers you are looking for and reassurance that it is going to be ok.

Be Blessed!
